Generally “Class Room” scenes and monologues are “just that”. At the DAS the differences between warming up in class and really putting your craft on the line are attacked in three fast paced courses that challenge the actor to get up to speed and ready for the reality of acting on a professional level quickly.

ACTING FOR THE ADVANCED ACTOR / LEVEL FOUR
This exclusive course is offered only to those whom have had a great deal of training, experience or have graduated from the DAS level three Film Acting Course. This is an intensive workshop developed to seriously polish existing talents and get the Actor in the best shape possible for the professional world of film acting. Students are encouraged to write and direct as well as work on monologues and scenes worthy of A great audition. Higher-end filming equipment and carefully blocked scenes spromise to give actors great material for their "reels"
Here we get into the "Head" of the writer and the "Needs" of a Director, helping us to become the very best actor we can possibly be. Once again, importance is placed heavily on developing both a career "Persona" and a career "Strategy"
Level Four students should expect the same energy as always that comes with the DAS , but there will be times where Scenes and Monologues are more carefully "worked"...other "work rooms" will be utilized to exploit maximum time and effect.
This class is on Saturday afternoons. 2.00pm to 5.00pm and begins March 13th. Numbers are limited!

Acting for the Camera - Level Three
Mastering Your Craft
The Level Three actor arrives with the confidence to really put their talent on the line. Here we look at script and scene analysis and teach the actor to understand the story's true intent. Actors are encouraged to challenge themselves with difficult scripts and non-conventional characters. We also look at "period" and "genre" pieces, learning to appreciate the many different styles of acting that may be asked of us. The actor who has completed Level Three at the DAS enters the professional market with the talent, the persona, the business saavy and the knowledge to give them the edge over the competition. Level Three actors are encouraged to re-enter this level at any time as a "brush-up " course, always keeping their tool as sharp as possible.
NOTE: Level Three is available for Level Two Graduates only.
LEVEL THREE CLASSES BEGIN THURSDAY MARCH 11th / 2010
TEN WEEKS
Acting for the Camera - Level Two
Molding Your Craft
As an actor it is critical that you develop skills that are individual to your personality, physicality and degree of talent. It's not always the best actor or even the best suited actor that lands the role. The Level Two Actor learns to develop their own and unique persona. They learn to quickly and expertly commit to any given role, scene and script. Here we teach the actors that they DO NOT become the role, but rather the role BECOMES THEM. At the DAS we "take on" Sanford M, Stanislavski, Uda and any other acting guru you may have been working with. We learn to respect the craft as seen through the teachings of many...AND...We learn to layer different techniques to develop real and compelling characters where your own spectacular and unique personality shines through. In Level Two we incorporate scenes along with monologues and the pace heats up even more.
NOTE: Level Two is available for those who have completed DAS Level One only or for the actor with "experience." An audition for assessment may be asked for new students.
LEVEL TWO CLASSES START TUESDAY MARCH 9th / 2010 / 6.30pm to 930pm
TEN WEEKS

Acting for the Camera - Level One-Attacking Your Craft
LEVEL ONE starts with re-defining modern method and understanding how it applies in practical application. We get moving quickly, and as early as the second class we begin taping monologues. Acting for film is an artistic discovery which requires both an actor and a director ( in this case your instructor ). Here you will work your scenes with properly guided direction. In keeping scenes short we are able to review many different and diverse scenes for each actor, thus maximizing your subsequent growth as a performer. At the DAS we teach the individual to appreciate who they truly are, bringing their own critical persona into each performance. This class is not for the lazy, come here to work and work a lot. The theory is simple; the actor learns and grows while the actor ...acts! We also look closely at the "absolute" technique of auditioning, helping to give you the best shot possible of landing those roles. Lastly, while studying at the DAS, we work with you in a personal manager capacity steering you through mountains of critical business and career knowledge. Photos and Resumes, proper business etiquette, placing you with agents and developing the proper relationships with Casting Directors ...everything you need to know to give your career the overall "edge" to succeed.
LEVEL ONE CLASSES BEGIN WEDNESDAY MARCH 10th . 6.30pm to 930pm
